Local Crime News – Henrico Police Wins Challenges

The Henrico Citizen reported in August the Henrico County Police Division’s Special Enforcement Unit had

won first place in its categories at the Law Enforcement Challenge (LEC) in both the statewide and national competitions. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (VACP) hold this competition each year to recognize agencies having the best traffic safety programs in the commonwealth and in the nation.

The competition is designed to target three major traffic safety priorities: occupant protection, impaired driving, and speeding. The IACP requires agencies to provide a detailed report, which documents each agency’s efforts and effectiveness for the entire previous year in the following areas: impaired driving, occupant protection, speeding, and state and local traffic safety issues.
